Mid-State Fair announces free acts

Elvin Bishop, Crystal Gayle, MercyMe and Los Lonely Boys to play this summer's event in Paso Robles

Blues guitarist Elvin Bishop, country singer Crystal Gayle, Christian rock band MercyMe and Chicano rock trio Los Lonely Boys are among the free acts performing this summer at the California Mid-State Fair this summer, organizers announced recently.

A founding member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Bishop is best known for his song “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” He performs July 17.

Gayle, playing July 22, found fame with her Grammy Award-winning crossover hit “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”

Performing July 23 is MercyMe, which gained mainstream recognition with the platinum-selling single “I Can Only Imagine.”

Los Lonely Boys, whose top songs include the Grammy-winning “Heaven,” take the stage July 26.

Each act will perform two concerts on the fair’s Frontier Stage, free with fair admission.
