Cal Poly’s baseball team moved up in all five major NCAA Division I polls Monday, including a rise to No. 5 in the respective Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game rankings.

The Mustangs rose to No. 4 in the respective USA Today/ESPN Coaches and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls.

Cal Poly has won nine of its past 10 games, including a 3-2 victory at Cal State Northridge on Sunday to end the regular season 45-10 overall and clinch an NCAA regional bid along with the program’s first Big West Conference title.

Cal Poly’s Allen honored

Mustangs senior third baseman Jimmy Allen was named Big West Field Player of the Week on Monday.

Allen, Cal Poly’s career hit king, clubbed three home runs in a series at Cal State Northridge last weekend to earn his second Big West weekly honor this season.

Allen went 6 for 14 in the series and upped his career hit total to 248.
