True caring hearts

5Cities Homeless Coalition Executive DirectorMay 19, 2014

It is a remarkable thing when a business owner chooses to hold a fundraiser by donating 100 percent of the proceeds, and incurring all of the event costs. Thanks to Bruce Van-Vort and Fin’s Seafood Restaurant, we held a great event on April 29. The community really came out for the “Dinner for a Cause.” All proceeds were donated to the 5Cities Homeless Coalition, and raised about $10,500.

A great cadre of volunteers stepped in to help, along with Fin’s phenomenal staff. Opolo Vineyards provided wine for the evening, which was made extra special with an array of terrific raffle prizes donated by area businesses. And the food was superb.

I’d like to extend a special thank you to Jay Turner, Dave Daniels and the stations of El Dorado Broadcasting for sharing the event with their listeners.

On behalf of the 5Cities Homeless Coalition, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who helped with this event, most importantly to Bruce Van-Vort, owner of Fin’s Seafood Restaurant in Grover Beach. The event was a true testament to the caring hearts that make up our community.
