The public is invited to a fundraiser in Santa Margarita on Saturday to help children with illnesses and cancer.

The lunch event is being organized by a local family who recently received help from local nonprofit group Jack’s Helping Hand when their toddler got sick from the E. coli virus, according to a news release.

The event, called A Day at the Park Barbecue, will benefit the organization’s Camp Reach for the Stars program, which promises to give ill children “a fun weekend to build friendships and enjoy childhood again,” the news release says.

The fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Santa Margarita Park at Estrada Avenue and H Street. It will feature tri-tip, adult and family beverages for purchase, to-go meals, activities and a bounce house. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children.
