Ralphie May

Stand-up comedian Ralphie May will bring his larger-than-life brand of humor to San Luis Obispo this summer.

May, who performs July 11 at the Fremont Theatre, found fame as a finalist on the first season of “Last Comic Standing” in 2003. He has recorded four Comedy Central specials, including 2012’s “Too Big to Ignore,” and performed on shows including “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

According to Bruce Howard of Otter Productions Inc., May is the latest in a series of comedy acts to perform at the Fremont.

British comedian Russell Brand performed to a sold-out crowd in October. And the SLO Comedy Festival, which ran Feb. 27 to March 2, also drew a full house, Howard said.

Tickets for May’s July 11 show are $30 to $50, and go on sale Friday.
