After coming away with a 10-inning, 4-4 tie against the Orcutt Academy Spartans on April 4, then giving up 15 hits in a 11-7 loss at the hands of the Spartans on May 2, the Lady Broncos finally topped Orcutt Academy on May 7, winning at home by a 5-3 score.

Notwithstanding the five errors committed behind her, Coast Union sophomore pitcher Ellie Magnuson held the Spartans to four hits and struck out six as the Lady Broncos improved their overall record to 10-4-1.

On Friday, May 9, Magnuson struck out 13 Bears and did not allow a hit as Coast Union dominated Cuyama Valley 16-0 in five innings.

That win improved Coast Union’s record to 7-0 in the Coast Valley League with one more game remaining.

In the victory over the Cuyama Valley Bears, senior catcher Cristina Plasencia had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs, and freshman outfielder Cynthia Cadena knocked in two runs and scored twice.

Magnuson also plated two runners and chipped in with two hits.
