Poor judgment

Morro BayMay 13, 2014

Recently, I got campaign literature from Carla Wixom and Nancy Johnson. Both Morro Bay candidates spoke about the need to control sewer costs, and Carla accused our elected officials of abandoning the most cost-effective solution to the sewer.

I would point out that their most cost-effective solution was to build the new plant on the existing sewer site, which is in a flood plain. This was pointed out by the Coastal Commission staff early on in the planning for a replacement plant.

As members of the previous City Council, they both ignored the Coastal Commission staff’s disapproval and wasted millions of dollars trying fight the Coastal Commission. This was a huge mistake and a waste of time and money.

On top of this, Mrs. Johnson has shown that she is not willing to work with the present council to get the new sewer on track.

I, for one, don’t think we should elect people who exercised such poor judgment on such an important issue.
