Prep Roundup: Daigle takes medalist honors in leading San Luis Obispo to boys golf win

Michael Daigle was the medalist at 4-over 76 for San Luis Obispo High at a PAC 7 boys golf tournament at Blacklake Golf Club on Tuesday.

Jack Avrit from Arroyo Grande and Donnie Hedrick from Atascadero tied for second at 5-over 77. Paso Robles’ Cody Autry placed fourth with an 82.

San Luis Obispo won the team title at 408, and Arroyo Grande finished second at 413. Atascadero placed fourth with 424, and Paso Robles was fifth with 427.


Paso Robles 9, San Luis Obispo 1

Jonathan Baldwin was 2 for 4 and had a two-run single that started a four-run first inning for the Bearcats as they scored six runs in the first two innings en route to a win.

Taylor Holden was 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Bailey Gaither was 2 for 5 with two runs scored for Paso Robles (18-5-2, 12-3-1 PAC 7).

Brandon Mallory scored the only run for the Tigers (4-18, 2-11).

Arroyo Grande 6, Righetti 4

Ryan Teixeira and Garrett Ball broke open a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning as Teixeira doubled home Jacob Guillen and Ball singled to score Teixeira.

Teixeira was 3 for 4 with two RBI for the Eagles (11, 7-6 PAC 7).

St. Joseph 4, Atascadero 1

Allen Hurst had an RBI infield single to score Ty Townsend in the first inning for the only run for the Greyhounds (5-12, 2-11 PAC 7).

Morro Bay 2, Cabrillo 1

Dan Beavers had nine strikeouts for the Pirates (4-17, 2-7 Los Padres League) in the complete-game win, allowing one run in the seventh.

Cru Reaber had a double and scored for the Pirates.

Templeton 7, Santa Maria 0

Spencer Howard and Mac Lardner combined for an Eagles’ no-hitter.

The only Saint to reach base was hit by a pitch.

Chonch Altamirano and Howard both doubled for Templeton (12-10, 6-3 LPL). Shane Wyatt was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Lardner was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Coastal Christian 16, Maricopa 3, 5 innings

Mitchell Rey pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts and no earned runs and was 3 for 4 with a triple and three runs to lead the Conquerors.

Shane Hampton was 2 for 4 with a double, triple and two runs scored as Coastal Christian (4-4 Coast Valley League) scored six runs in the first and eight runs in the fourth.

Coast Union 16, Shandon 0, 5 innings

Tommy Howard was 2 for 2 with a two-run home run and an RBI single, while Jake McAvoy pitched a complete game, giving up one hit to lead the Broncos.

­Emmany Godinez was 2 for 3 with three RBI, and Zander Stoothoff was 2 for 2 with two RBI for Coast Union (15-4, 8-0 CVL).


Atascadero 3, Arroyo Grande 0

Sally Bowles pitched seven innings and struck out seven and had a single, walk, and run to lead the Greyhounds.

Ally Reagan was 2 for 3, and McKenzi Etchison had the only RBI for Atascadero (22-3-1, 9-0 PAC 7).

Paso Robles 8, San Luis Obispo 2

Dakota Rodriguez had a bases-loaded triple to seal the win for the Bearcats.

Chloe Kerns was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Mikayla Stone was 2 for 4 with an RBI for Paso Robles (13-11, 7-4 PAC 7).

Lacey Morris and Madison Romero had a combined 11 strikeouts and four hits for the Bearcats.

Hanna Murphy’s two-run double accounted for all of the Tigers’ (8-16, 1-8) runs. Bee Soll was 2 for 3 with a run for San Luis Obispo.

Nipomo 10, Santa Ynez 9

Ashley Ruiz had a two-run home run and Marissa Rodriguez hit a solo home run for the Titans (15-10, 6-3 LPL).

Saundra Renner was 2 for 4 with a double. Rodriguez had three RBI. Bri Sa had an RBI and struck out four batters for Nipomo, including the final batter of the game after Santa Ynez scored once in the seventh to trim the lead.

Templeton 3, Santa Maria 1

Roary Morgan had a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI single from Brynn Smith after Santa Maria led 1-0 early on.

Corinne Barto pitched seven innings and gave up just two hits for Templeton (8-17, 3-6).

Cabrillo 4, Morro Bay 1

Marissa Tabares pitched seven innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out six in the loss for the Pirates (12-12, 6-3 LPL).

Lexi Beaman and Kendall Schemmer were both 2 for 3 for Morro Bay.

Coastal Christian 12, Maricopa 2, 5 innings

Roni Garrison pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and three RBI as the Conquerors scored 12 unanswered runs, including five each in the third and fifth inning.

Delaney Springer was 2 for 3, while Hannah Brennan had three RBI for Coastal Christian (4-6, 4-3 CVL).


Atascadero 16, Pioneer Valley 2

Brendan Adams and Dean Menigoz led the Greyhounds in singles play as Adams didn’t drop a game and Menigoz (7-5, 6-1, 6-3) swept all three matches.

The doubles pairing of Jacob Haas and Dylan Head (6-0, 6-1, 6-1) also swept for Atascadero (17-5, 8-4 PAC 7).

Paso Robles 16, St. Joseph 2

Mitchell Keller and Evan Serpa both won all of their singles sets 6-0 for the Bearcats (8-9, 4-8 PAC 7).

Mayer Pohlod won 6-4, 6-4, 6-0. In doubles, Ryan Shepard and Warren Willis swept 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-0.

Cate 10, Arroyo Grande 8

Derek Lakowske swept 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 for the Eagles (14-9).

The doubles teams of Jamison O’Marr and Skyler Zirpolo and the team of Ryan Stier and Andrew Arcangel each won two of their three sets.

San Luis Obispo 13, Righetti 5

Mason Hansen swept 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 for the Tigers (21-2, 12-0 PAC 7).

In doubles, Josh Milla and Luke Olson won 6-4, 6-2, 6-0. Noah Cleere and Alex Dill swept 6-4, 6-4, 6-0. Scott Hicks and Adie Alwen won 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 6-0.

Morro Bay 9, Cabrillo 9 (79-72)

Andrew Stella swept 6-0, 6-1, 6-0 for the Pirates (9-6, 6-4 LPL), who won on the games-won tiebreaker.

Marcel Scheiwiller won 7-5, 6-4, 6-0.

Santa Ynez 13, Templeton 5

Chaz Darrow won 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 for the Eagles in their LPL loss.


Arroyo Grande 3, Righetti 0

Jack Empey had 32 assists, three kills, and two aces for the Eagles (20-6, 10-0 PAC 7).

Keanu Morrison had 10 kills, two digs, and three aces in Arroyo Grande’s 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 win.

Conner Howard had seven kills, five digs, and three aces. Cameron Arnett finished with 11 kills, and Andrew Midyett had seven kills.

San Luis Obispo 3, Paso Robles 0

Rennie Heza had 18 assists, and Shea McSorley led the Tigers to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 win over the Bearcats.

San Luis Obispo improved to 15-7 and 7-3 in the PAC 7.

Riley Rookus led Paso Robles (2-14, 1-9 PAC 7) with 13 kills, four aces, and five assists. Keegan Keelan added 12 assists and five kills.

Mission Prep 3, Orcutt Academy 0

Paul Tompkins led the Royals with 17 kills, 11 digs and five aces in a 25-21, 25-12, 25-7 win. Sean O’Connor added 28 assists for Mission Prep (16-5).
