Prep Roundup: Cherry tops off Eagles’ home slate in volleyball

UCSB-bound star racks up 28 kills as Templeton boys down Mission Prep, 3-1

Henri Cherry tallied 28 kills in the final home match of the season as the Templeton High boys volleyball team defeated Mission Prep 3-1 on Monday.

Cherry, who will play at UC Santa Barbara next year, also added six aces for the Eagles, who won 25-13, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22.

Michael Laharguh had 36 assists for Templeton, and Jordan Scully added 14 kills.

Sean O’Connor had 28 assists and nine digs for the Royals (15-5), who host the Eagles on Wednesday. Jack Mooney had 15 kills, 11 digs and four blocks for Mission Prep.


Nipomo 208, Morro Bay 254

DJ Llorente-Blankenbury shot a 4-over 39 to lead the Titans in a nine-hole match at Morro Bay Golf Course.

Rayce Francis led the Pirates with a 46.

Mission Prep 257, Orcutt Academy 260

Matthew Abbatte and Robert Ball both shot match-best 47s to lead the Royals to victory in their last dual of the season at nine-hole, par-36 Dairy Creek.

Kendahl Hix shot a 51 to finish third for Mission Prep (2-7).
