Former Cal Poly star Santiago leads Bulgarian pro team to title again

Former Cal Poly star Kristina Santiago led Dunav 8806 to the Bulgarian National Basketball League championship for the second year in a row Saturday night as her club outlasted Levski 76-61 in the fifth game of the league finals.

Santiago, who had 14 points and six rebounds, earned her second consecutive playoffs MVP award.

She averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds this season.

Santiago was an All-American honorable mention while at Cal Poly. She started her second year as a pro with Hapoel Rishon LeZion in Israel, averaging 11.7 points and 6.7 rebounds, before re-signing with Dunav in December.
