An electrical fire damaged two Paso Robles homes Friday, and one firefighter was injured while battling the blaze.

Paso Robles firefighters responded at 8:14 a.m. to a residential structure fire at 531 Bonita Ave., Battalion Chief Kevin Taylor said in a news release.

Firefighters found the home’s attached garage engulfed in flames that extended into the residence and a neighboring property at 539 Bonita Ave., Taylor said.

As firefighters attacked the flames, five more engines were brought in because other homes were threatened, he said. Crews contained the fire about 8:50 a.m., he said.

All residents safely exited the buildings in time, but one Paso Robles firefighter suffered a minor leg injury and was taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton for evaluation, Taylor said.

The fire started in the electrical system of the home at 531 Bonita Ave., he said. City building officials were assessing the damage to the two homes, as well as outbuildings at residences at 534 32nd St. and 542 32nd St. on Friday. Taylor said the total dollar loss is under investigation.
