Fire burns brush off Hwy. 1 south of Cambria

Traffic slows on Highway 1 south of Cambria on Monday afternoon as smoke from a small brushfire blows over the road.

A brush fire burning near an unoccupied dwelling on Highway 1 south of Cambria was brought under control in about half an hour Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1:13 p.m. and contained at 1:42 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

Responding units included three aircraft, a half-dozen engines, two hand crews, a water crew and a bulldozer, as well as personnel from the Cambria Fire Department and volunteer firefighters from Cayucos.

The fire burned about one-quarter acre.

The cause is under investigation.
