Hospice is the winner

Executive director, Hospice of San Luis Obispo CountyApril 28, 2014

On April 5, the Veterans Hall in SLO was once again converted into an annual “Bingo Bonanza” happening by an amazing group of energetic, gifted and dedicated women. This event is organized each year by the Women’s Alliance of San Luis Obispo, with all proceeds going to benefit Hospice of San Luis Obispo County.

For more than 20 years, the members of the Women’s Alliance have spent their year planning, organizing, seeking silent auction items, creating incredible prize baskets, selling tickets and promoting an event that sells out the Vets Hall. As a bingo event, it is likely one of the most generous in the area in making sure a large number of the participants win something: theme baskets that seem to get bigger every year; special drawing baskets, dozens of door prizes; table prizes; raffle prizes or the money hat.

But best of all are the results. Hospice SLO has received an average of $23,000 a year from this event. Since 1977, our volunteer hospice organization has provided all in-home respite and grief counseling services without charge to clients, families or insurance, and we cannot do this without this kind of support. Thank you!
