Broncos blow away King City Mustangs, 6-2

Bundled up like arctic explorers, baseball fans and players’ families braved powerful icy winds as they watched the Coast Union Broncos defeat the Mustangs from King City, 6-2, on Tuesday, April 22, at Coast Union.

Senior Grant Magnuson scattered eight hits and struck out eight, winning his fourth game in five decisions; senior second baseman Quentin Raethke had two clutch hits, driving in two runs for Coast Union.

Senior Emmany Godinez had two hits and scored two runs and sophomore Lane Sutherland scored a pair of runs, including a daring steal of home he accomplished by sliding head first across the plate.

Senior Tommy Howard made several brilliant plays at first base, snagging high throws from infielders and alertly slapping the glove on Mustang runners before they hit the bag.

The Broncos play Maricopa at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, at home. The game is broadcast on KTEA 103.5-FM and streams live on
