Grover Beach was recently named one of the top 15 small cities in California by Cities Journal, alongside Sonoma, Sausalito, Healdsburg, Ojai and 10 other towns.

Grover Beach, listed at No. 13, “offers a convenient middle ground if you love the beach lifestyle but also want to be in close proximity to mountains and colder weather,” according to Cities Journal.

The website mentions Grover Beach’s annual Dune Run Run event, Stone Soup Music Festival and Street Faire, and annual summer concert series in Ramona Garden Park.

In addition, city officials “make valiant efforts to keep housing affordable and their community diverse.”

The city announced the ranking in a news release on Wednesday. Cities Journal looked at towns of fewer than 20,000 people, stating, “the majority of California is made up of smaller, humbler towns that combine the beautiful outdoors with a friendly neighborhood feel.”
