Prep Roundup: Atascadero edges Nipomo in softball; Paso Robles gets split in tournament

Nique Mack was 2 for 3 and scored the winning run on a Kaila Herzig single in the sixth inning as the Atascadero High softball team beat Nipomo 4-3 on Tuesday night in Nipomo.

The Greyhounds scored in the top of the first inning as Tori Comin scored on an error and Mack scored on an RBI single by McKenzi Etchinson.

Atascadero added another run before the Titans scored three runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Ashley Ruiz and a two-run single from Anahi Vences.

Alese Dominguez pitched four innings, giving up four hits and one earned run for the Greyhounds (19-3-1).

Ruiz was 3 for 4, Vences was 2 for 4 and Bri Sa was 2 for 4 for Nipomo (12-1).

Paso Robles at Pioneer Valley Tournament

Mikayla Stone was 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI as the Bearcats split two games, losing 4-1 to Alemany and beating Lompoc 5-1.

Paso Robles gave up three runs in the fourth against Alemany, as Lacey Morris pitched five innings with four walks. The game was called because of time constraints.

In the second game, Dakota Rodriguez was 2 for 3 with an RBI and pitched six innings, giving up three hits and striking out four for the Bearcats (10-10).

Chloe Kerns had a two-run double in the third inning for Paso Robles.

San Luis Obispo 8, Santa Ynez 0

Samantha Good led the Tigers with a double and an RBI in addition to striking out 12 batters from the circle.

Janae Caldera scored two runs, drove in one more and doubled for San Luis Obispo (8-14).
Hanna Murphy and Marissa Piatt each had an RBI for the Tigers.


Arroyo Grande 416, San Luis Obispo 421

The Eagles’ Raleigh Deering and the Tigers’ Kush Sikand were co-medalists at 6-over 78 at the Cypress Ridge Golf Club.

Arroyo Grande’s Tristan Burgmann-Lagano had an 81, and Connor Sandman finished with an 82.

For San Luis Obispo, Michael Daigle hit an 80 and Andy Eppright had an 82.

Dos Pueblos 407, Paso Robles 415, Santa Ynez 442

David Talley of Dos Pueblos and Santa Ynez’s Nick Nelson both shot 3-over 74 to tie for individual medalist at the Glen Annie Golf Course in Santa Barbara. Freshman Bailey Flickinger led Paso Robles with an 81, while Cody Autry and Greg Potruch both shot 83.


Arroyo Grande 12, Atascadero 6

Derek Lakowske won all three sets in singles (6-0, 6-1, 6-3), while the doubles pairings of Ryan Stier and Skyler Zirpolo and Jamieson O’Marr and Canaan Lysobey also swept their sets for the Eagles (13-7, 9-1 PAC 7).

Brendan Adams and Jacob Hass each went 2-1 in singles for the Greyhounds (12-5, 4-4 PAC 7).


Coast Union 6, King City 2

Grant Magnuson had seven strikeouts for the Broncos (9-3).

Quinten Raethke was 2 for 3 with two RBI, and Lane Sutherland recorded two singles and an RBI.
