A public forum for district attorney candidates Tim Covello and Dan Dow will be Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the community room of the San Luis Obispo City/County Library, 999 Palm St.

The forum is sponsored by The Tribune and moderated by The League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County. Written questions from the audience are welcome. Seating is limited to 125; doors will open to the public at approximately 6:45 p.m.

This is the first time in 16 years that there has been a contested election for district attorney; Gerry Shea was first elected in 1998 and ran unopposed three times. He announced his retirement last fall. The two candidates hoping to succeed him both work for the SLO County District Attorney's Office; Covello is assistant district attorney and Dow is a deputy district attorney.
