Rays reinstate Oviedo from 15-day DL

St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays reistated reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Oviedo hasn't pitched in a major league game since Sep. 21, 2011, when he was known as Leo Nunez. He underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2012 and visa issues delayed his arrival to spring training.

The right-hander made seven rehab apperances for Triple-A Durham where he allowed one run on two hits while striking out nine over six innings.

Oviedo takes the roster spot of left-handed reliever C.J. Riefenhauser, who was optioned to Durham following Sunday's 5-1 loss to the New York Yankees.
