Slow driving in SLO

Los OsosApril 22, 2014

I do not understand the popular new fad of driving 10 or 15 mph below the speed limit. I have observed this behavior on every major road that I travel when I go to San Luis Obispo.

Do these people think they are driving safely? Nothing could be further from the truth. Speed limits are not set arbitrarily. They are there to promote safety, traffic flow and the avoidance of traffic jams. By driving so far below the speed limit, drivers are upsetting the carefully planned out ballet of traffic flow.

If you do not feel comfortable driving the speed limit, maybe it is time to hang up the keys for good. I myself am getting on up in years, and I know that it will be a hard decision to make, but public transportation and rides for the elderly are available. For their sakes, I hope the people who need to will be able to make the adjustment.
