Surfside Deli is on South Oak Park Boulevard in Grover Beach.

The owners of The Breakfast Buzz in San Luis Obispo have expanded their business to the coast and adopted an appropriately beachy vibe to go with the venture: a surf-themed sandwich restaurant in Grover Beach.

Surfside Deli opened at 191 South Oak Park Blvd. in February, at the former site of Stacked Sandwiches, which closed in December.

Surfside owner Jeff Reynolds said though he and his wife, Tina Reynolds, originally planned to reopen the 1,000-square-foot sandwich spot under the Stacked Sandwiches name, the pair decided to adopt a new name to alleviate confusion among customers.

Surfside Deli features sandwiches named after local surf spots, beer and wine and desserts made by Tina Reynolds. Sandwiches average between $7.50 and $8 each, Reynolds said.

He declined to disclose revenue or how much they invested to open the new restaurant, but said the business has been profitable in its first three months.

“I think that the local people are pleased to have another deli in the place,” Reynolds said. “The response we’ve been getting is very positive.”

The couple operates two Breakfast Buzz locations in San Luis Obispo and Chico. They closed a restaurant in Santa Margarita called Tina’s Place last year.
