Vangie Lopez hit a grand slam, and Marisa Rodriguez also hit a home run, both in the third inning, leading the Nipomo High softball team to a 5-1 win over Paso Robles at the Softball by the Beach Tournament on Friday in Arroyo Grande.
Nipomo lost its second game 5-4 to Moorpark. The Titans (11-8) trailed 4-3 in the sixth when Hope Goodall walked, stole second and scored on a throwing error to tie the game.
Moorpark, ranked 25th in California according to Max Preps.com, scored a run in the seventh for the win.
Host Arroyo Grande lost both its games, 8-2 to St. Joseph of Lakewood and 12-0 to San Joaquin Memorial. Samantha Oliver drove in a run in the first game and Alexcia Silva was 2 for 2 with a double in the second game for the Eagles (7-11).
San Luis Obispo lost 6-1 to Cabrillo and then 14-0 in five innings to Royal.
Marissa Piatt had two doubles, and Dee Foll had a double for the Tigers (6-13) in the first game.

Ryan Teixeira had two of the Eagles’ five hits in their win over the Panthers as they snapped a four-game league losing streak.
Cole Ramey threw five innings for Arroyo Grande (9-9, 5-4 PAC 7) and gave up four hits.
Mikey Gutierrez pitched two hitless innings to get the save for the Eagles, and Garrett Ball drove in a run.
