More pathways being added to Atascadero Lake Park

A project to bring more connections to park-goers is on its way to Atascadero.

Construction of an eight-foot-wide concrete path and sidewalk is scheduled to begin Monday to link Atascadero Lake Park's Veteran's Memorial parking lot to the Charles Paddock Zoo entrance and the city's Pavilion on the Lake. A handicap accessible picnic area with a table, fire pit and trash can, all on a concrete surface, will also be added.

The roughly $139,000 work contract was awarded to Paso Robles firm Viborg Sand & Gravel, Inc.

Some walking paths currently at the park will be temporarily closed while the new walkway is installed, according to the city. The area's parking lots will remain open, except for short closures for restriping. The project is scheduled to wrap up May 17.
