Junior third baseman Patty Bucio had a big day against Alpaugh on April 11 at Coast Union, going three for five with a three-run homer and a double, driving in a total of five runs.

On Friday, April 11, the Lady Broncos entertained a very raw, embarrassingly inexperienced Alpaugh Junior and Senior High School team (134 students) from a tiny berg called Alpaugh (just over 1,000 citizens) in Tulare County.

The outcome was never in doubt as Coast Union scored eight runs in the first inning and 10 runs in the second. They powdered the ball all over the field and the porous Buffalos’ defense was unable to catch simple pop-ups, slow ground balls, or fly balls that should have been easy plays.

For the record, the Lady Broncos are 4-0 in the Coast Valley League and they are getting plenty of offense and defense as they work through their season in anticipation of getting a bit farther in the CIF playoffs than they did last year, when they lost their second game to Faith Baptist, 7-3.
