Forum planned for Morro Bay mayor and city council candidates

Morro Bay's candidates for mayor and two City Council seats outline their views. The election is June 3.


Morro Bay City Council and mayoral candidates running in the June primary election will participate in a forum Thursday morning.

The event, coordinated by the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County, will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Morro Bay Veterans Memorial Building, 209 Surf St.

The forum will be streamed live on Channel 20 and recorded for viewing on television and the Internet. The League of Women Voters will moderate the forum.

The mayoral candidates are incumbent Jamie Irons and Carla Wixom, who previously served on the City Council.

The City Council candidates are incumbent Nancy Johnson; public works advisory board chair Matt Makowetski; and John Headding, president-elect of the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce.
