About 23 PG&E customers are currently without power, after a downed power pole caused an outage in Oceano this morning. Initially it was reported that 111 were affected.

According to the Five Cities Fire Authority, a power pole fell into a field in the vicinity of Elm Street and Basin Street sometime before 11:50 a.m., causing the outage.

The attached power line snapped, but other attached lines were still intact. Initial inspection of the pole indicated dry rot on the base had prompted the fall, Capt. Craig Angello said.

There is no threat of fire from the downed line, Angello said, and PG&E crews are on scene to assess the situation and restore power.

Power is expected to be restored by 6:30 p.m., according to the PG&E Outage Center map.
