Cambria Reds nipped by Morro Bay Brewers

Special to The CambrianApril 11, 2014

The opening Little League game for the Cambria Reds on Saturday, April 5,  did not turn out as coach Gary Stephenson had hoped, as his team was shaded 8-6 by the Morro Bay Brewers.

The Brewers got up 6-0 and, while the Reds chipped away to make it 6-2 then 8-3, “we just ran out of time,” Stephenson explained.

Pitchers Chase Voltz and David May did a “good job” holding the Brewers to just eight runs, and Emmany Plasencia ripped a triple late in the game but it wasn’t enough, Stephenson added.

On Tuesday, April 8, the Reds nipped the Los Osos Blue team 11-10; Magnus Marthaler knocked in David May with the walk-off hit.

The next home game for the Reds is Saturday, April 12, at Leffingwell Field against the Los OsOsos White team at 10 a.m.
