Three brothers go off to fight in World War II. Their three brides move into together in a small town in Louisiana. Life Magazine wants the story.

The Pewter Plough Playhouse brings “The Cover of Life” by R. T. Robinson to its Cambria stage starting Friday, April 11, the second play in its 2014 season, which is dedicated to James Lee Buckley, who died Dec. 22.

The play deals with the stress of being a war bride, the need for family support, the excitement of learning you are important enough for a Life Magazine story, and the coming to terms with what life brings.

It finds humor, anxiety, sorrow and empathy in the face of war and the strength of women during that time.

Sandy Bosworth directs cast members Nikki Barnes, MJ Johnson, Toni Young and Janice Peters and, standing Angela Hutt, Michael Dexter and Sharyn Young.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. Sundays (except April 13) through May 18 at 824 Main St., Cambria.

For tickets ($16 Fridays, $21/$19 Saturdays and Sundays), call 927-3877 or go to www.pewterploughplayhouse.org.

Tickets to an opening with champagne, dessert buffet and live music with pianist/vocalist Dave Manion on Saturday, April 12, are $30.
