State Parks to burn brush piles in Morro Bay, San Simeon

ktanner@thetribunenews.comApril 11, 2014

State Parks plans to reduce the fire fuel load and reduce insect infestation habitat by burning piles of brush on the North Coast in mid-April.

The piles are in the Monterey pine forest of Hearst San Simeon State Park, near the San Simeon Pier and in Morro Bay State Park.

The burns will be done in cooperation with Cal Fire and the county Air Pollution Control District.

No burning will be done if a burn ban is in effect or if weather conditions do not permit burning.
