Speak with care

CayucosApril 11, 2014

I am all for free speech. I also recognize that words are powerful and should be spoken with thought and care.

To assert, Mr. Victor Davis Hanson, in your opinion piece April 10, that “We’re in a new Inquisition,” and Conservatives’ opinions are being stamped out and censored, is false. Your many examples of various published and aired opinions contradict that assertion.

And yes, I understand that it doesn’t feel good to receive backlash for one’s statements. But when said statements are hateful, ill-informed, prejudiced or homophobic, then one should expect it. If you have an opinion that falls into one of those categories, then I think it prudent and wise to simply keep it to yourself. Or yes, you may face public repercussion.
