The San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party has endorsed incumbent county supervisors Caren Ray and Bruce Gibson in the June 4 primary election.

Ray, who serves as the District 4 supervisor, is running against candidates Lynn Compton and Mike Byrd.

Gibson, who represents District 2, will face off against Muril Clift.

Mike Heyl, chair of the county’s Democratic Party Endorsement Commission, said in a statement “we are fortunate in this county to have two smart, experienced and hard-working incumbents running to maintain their seats.”

Heyl said the party “is proud of both of them and will work to get them elected.” A 60 percent majority vote of approval within the Democratic Central Committee backed the endorsements of the two candidates.
