Historical enrollment

San Luis ObispoApril 9, 2014

The first open enrollment for purchase of health insurance under the Affordable Care Act officially ended March 31.

Here in California, more than 1.2 million consumers have enrolled and selected a health plan and more than 1.9 million have enrolled in the Medi-Cal expansion. Many of these are enrolled in health insurance for the first time.

For those who were unable to enroll during the last days of open enrollment due to website problems, the enrollment deadline has been extended to April 15. Those who were successful in setting up an account can simply log in to finish their application and select a health plan. Those unable to set up an account can still enroll by contacting a certified insurance agent or a certified application assistant.

The next open enrollment will start Nov. 15 and will end Feb. 15.

Enrollments outside of open enrollment will be limited to those who experience qualifying events, such as marriage, divorce, birth of a child, or losing employer group coverage.

Many health insurance brokers have participated in this historical open enrollment, and we are proud of the numbers of folks served.
