Prep Roundup: Tabares stars as Morro Bay softball wins, 7-5

Marissa Tabares pitched seven innings and struck out 13 as she led the Morro Bay High softball team to a 7-5 win Monday over Lompoc at Morro Bay.

The Pirates (8-7, 4-1 Los Padres League) were losing 3-2 before scoring five runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Alexis Beaman had a bases-loaded single that scored two runs, and Madelynn Martinez walked with the bases loaded.

Morro Bay’s Martinez was 1 for 2 with another RBI in the first on a single, and Emma Hotaling was 1 for 2 with two runs scored.

Cabrillo 4, Templeton 3

The Eagles scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead before Cabrillo scored two in the fifth to take the lead for good. Ashley Stevens led Templeton, striking out 12 batters and giving up no earned runs in addition to going 3 for 3 at the plate.

Paso Robles 13, San Luis Obispo 1, 5 innings

Lacey Morris pitched a complete game, leading the Bearcats (6-5, 2-2 PAC 7) as she gave up two hits and two walks and struck out two. Nicole Raithel was 2 for 3, and Dakota Rodriguez was 1 for 4 with a triple and three RBI.

San Luis Obispo (5-8, 0-3) scored in the top of the second as Megan Norris led off with a walk and scored on a double by Campbell Warren. Marissa Piatt had the other hit for the Tigers.

BASEBALL

Lompoc 4, Morro Bay 2

Colt Caravalho pitched a complete game for the Pirates (0-10, 0-5 LPL), striking out four and walking one in a loss at home.

BOYS TENNIS

Arroyo Grande 14, Paso Robles 4

Derek Lakowske led the Eagles in singles play, winning in straight sets without dropping a game, while the doubles pairing of Jamieson O’Marr and Canaan Lysobey won 6-2, 5-7, 6-0. Paso Robles’ Evan Serpa led the Bearcats, winning 0-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Atascadero 9, Righetti 9 (Atascadero tiebreaker)

Brendan Adams (6-3, 6-4, 6-0) and the doubles pairing of Yuma Olsen and Luke Reilly (6-1, 4-6, 6-0) helped the Greyhounds (11-3, 4-2 PAC 7) beat the Warriors on a 72-70 games tiebreaker.

BOYS GOLF

Arroyo Grande 408, St. Joseph 452

Conner Sandman led the Eagles (5-1, 3-0 PAC 7), shooting a 2-over par at Cypress Ridge as Sandman was the individual medalist. Arroyo Grande also had Jack Avrit shoot a 75 and Raleigh Deering shoot an 83.

Atascadero 437, Paso Robles 439

Donnie Hedrick shot a 6-over par 78 to lead the Greyhounds to a win at Chalk Mountain. Atascadero (4-1, 3-1 PAC 7) also had Ryan O’Connell shoot an 85.

Santa Ynez 224, Morro Bay 232

Morro Bay’s Luca Bruno was the individual medalist, shooting a 1-over par 36 in a loss at Morro Bay Golf Course. Morro Bay (6-16, 4-15 LPL) also had Noah Martinez and Rayce Francis shoot 48.

Righetti 234, Mission Prep 257

Keith Moles shot a 6-over 41 to lead the Warriors by the Royals (1-5).

Stephen Orradre carded a 43 to lead Mission Prep, which also got a 51 from Robert Ball and a 53 from Kendahl Hix.
