Another minor decoy operation in which undercover police officers employ somebody under the age of 21 to attempt to buy alcohol at various businesses took place in Paso Robles over the weekend, resulting in three citations.
On Saturday, officers used the tactic at 11 area businesses. According to a Paso Robles Police Department news release, three clerks were cited for selling the minor alcohol without verifying his or her age. The penalty for a citation is $250 and community service.
The cited businesses were Pioneer Food Mart on the 1100 block of Spring Street and the Woodland Chevron and AM/PM, both on the 100 block of Niblick Road.
The operation was part of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Controls grant fund project to help municipal police departments combat underage drinking and is funded by the Office of Traffic Safety.
