Jacks Helping Hand, a nonprofit organization that provides support for children with special needs and their families, will break ground on a 33-acre universally accessible public park for physically challenged children in Nipomo on Friday.
The park, named the Jack Ready Imagination Park, will be the first of its kind in San Luis Obispo County, according to the organization, featuring themed play structures, sand play area, sports fields and basketball courts, and a therapeutic riding center. The park will be accessible by foot, bike, stroller, wheelchair and walker.
About 30 people are expected to attend the official groundbreaking, including Jacks Helping Hand supporters and elected officials.
The park will be located at the end of Illinois Way in Nipomo.
