Central Coast Oyster & Music Festival has new date, location

April 2, 2014

The Central Coast Oyster & Music Festival is moving to a new date and a new location, organizers announced recently.

Now in its third year, the festival will take place June 7 in the Avila Beach Golf Resort, a move that will allow for lower ticket prices and parking fees, event director Jacqueline Delaney said in a news release. The annual event debuted in June 2012 in Morro Bay, but moved to October the following year.

In addition to a full day of concerts, food and beverages, attractions include an oyster-shucking contest, barbecue demonstration and “Best Oyster of the Central Coast” chef competition, as well as art installations.

This year’s festival benefits two local non-profit organizations -- the Guerilla Gardening Club, which educates at-risk youth, and OPTIONS Family of Services, which works with people with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries.

Tickets for the Central Coast Oyster & Music Festival, which go on sale Friday, cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. For more information, call 459-0701 or visit http://www.centralcoastoysterfestival.com.
