Visit San Luis Obispo County, destination marketing organization for San Luis Obispo County, has hired Amy Olsen as its new event manager. Her first day was Tuesday.

She succeeds Faith Wells, who left in October to join Epoch Wines.

Olsen has more than 20 years of event production and hospitality experience, including concept design, budgeting, promotion, vendor negotiation, and sponsorship sales and execution, according to a news release. Among her previous jobs: training and development specialist for McDonnell Douglas Corp., and training manager for Imperial Credit Industries. Most recently, she was director at Empire Events in Grass Valley, producing wine events, auctions, music festivals and conferences.

Olsen’s primary responsibility will be to lead the planning, marketing and execution of the four-day Sunset Savor the Central Coast event in partnership with Sunset magazine, to be held September 25-28.
