Several years ago, city officials closed off the entranceway to the tunnel underground San Luis Obispo by allowing a pond to form in front of its entranceway.
Why did they need to block the entrance? Perhaps because they didnt want to have to shepherd the dozens of tourists that would come to visit the catacombs of San Luis Obispo, clogging the restaurants and stores of the downtown. Perhaps the tunnel, with a new entrance, would lure tourists just to escape the heat of summer days. It would be fixed up with a gravel pathway complete with handrail and footlights and phosphorescent painted walls and night time overhead sprinklers.
Now, while the tunnel is (very) dry, would be a good time to remodel this jewel so it can be used by the tourists and even we who want to patronize the downtown.
Who will volunteer to get this project started?
