San Luis Obispo police officers on the lookout for suspects in a recent rash of car burglaries arrested a juvenile early Thursday morning, resulting in the discovery of stolen property.

At about 3:45 a.m., officers were patrolling an area near Madonna Road and Pereira Drive, where a number of vehicle burglaries had been reported throughout the week, according to a San Luis Obispo Police Department news release.

While travelling southbound on Pereira Drive they saw several parked vehicles with dome lights on and what was later determined to be a juvenile male walking about 100 yards away. According to the release, the juvenile ran when he spotted the officers and was soon caught on the 11000 block of Los Osos Valley Road.

The juvenile was allegedly found in possession of property reported stolen from the neighborhood. Police later searched the juvenile’s home and discovered more stolen property, according to the department.

The juvenile was booked at the San Luis Obispo Juvenile Services Center on suspicion of theft and possession of stolen property. His name is being withheld because of his age.

Officers are investigating the thefts to determine if there are additional victims.
