Event raises money for drama students

Students lent a little muscle to Atascadero High School’s drama department on Saturday when they competed in several feats of strength to raise money for a trip to Scotland.

The Atascadero Strength Games, held at Atascadero High School, featured several events, including the stone throw, car pull, bagpipers and obstacle course. The games, sponsored by the Atascadero High School Drama Boosters, were held to raise money for the drama department’s trip to Scotland this summer.

The department needs to raise $250,000 so it can present “Footloose” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. Twenty cast members and 10 crew members are expected to travel along with chaperones and directors to Edinburgh, where they are scheduled to put on the show at the Church Hill Theatre.

Anyone interested in donating can call the Drama Boosters at 464-7110 or email atascaderodramaboosters@gmail.com.
