SLO residents share acts of happiness

San Luis Obispo residents shared the things that make them happy Thursday by posting their acts of happiness on a large, portable wall in Mission Plaza.

The event was part of the International Day of Happiness, which was declared by the United Nations in 2012 following a declaration by the nation of Bhutan.

San Luis Obispo’s was one of 30 walls erected in cities in the United States, Canada and England. Craig Cowan petitioned Live Happy Magazine, which sponsored the event, to include San Luis Obispo in the mix because of its prior designation as the happiest city in America. The magazine shipped the 130-pound wall, which Cowan and his crew assembled for Thursday’s event. For every post put on the wall, the magazine pledged to donate $1 to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
