Prep Roundup: San Luis Obispo boys top Templeton in volleyball

Rennie Heza tallied 38 assists as the San Luis Obispo High boys volleyball team won the final two sets to defeat Templeton 3-1 Wednesday afternoon in San Luis Obispo.

The Tigers improved to 8-3 with a 27-25, 15-25, 25-20, 25-21 victory.

Shea McSorley and John Duffy led San Luis Obispo in kills with 14 and nine, respectively.

Morro Bay 3, Paso Robles 1

Cody Cohen led the Pirates with 15 kills and 14 digs in a 25-14, 24-26, 25-23, 25-23 win over the Bearcats.

Philip Nordhus tallied 29 digs for Morro Bay, and Edward Guerrero had 26 assists.

Riley Rookus had 19 kills, 10 assists and seven aces for Paso Robles.

BOYS GOLF

San Luis Obispo 421, St. Joseph 452

Medalist Michael Daigle shot a 5-over 77 to lead the Tigers (5-0, 2-0 PAC 7) at the par-72 Santa Maria Country Club.

Kush Sikand finished at 79 for San Luis Obispo.

Arroyo Grande 377, Pioneer Valley 544

Led by a 1-over 72 from Tristan Bergmann-Lagano, the Eagles (4-1, 2-0 PAC 7) topped the Panthers at par-71 Blacklake.

Raleigh Deering shot a 74, and Jack Avrit and Conner Sandman both notched a 76 for Arroyo Grande. Jordan MacMurphey (79) rounded out the Eagles under 80.

Laguna Blanca 218, Mission Prep 258, nine holes

Kiyan Mashhoon shot a 2-over 37 to lift Laguna Blanca at the nine-hole, par-35 Dairy Creek Golf Course.

Stephen Orradre shot a 42 to lead the Royals (0-4), and Robert Ball shot a 47 to round out the Mission Prep golfers under 50.

Nipomo 455, Orcutt Academy 538

Gavin Westbrook and Jett Rugg were co-medalists in the Titans’ win, both shooting an 87 at the par-72 Rancho Maria Golf Course.

Philippe Bonhoff and Ethan Navongs were the second-best finishers for Nipomo (1-4), both shooting 91. 

TRACK AND FIELD

Boys: Santa Ynez 115, Morro Bay 21; Girls: Santa Ynez 103, Morro Bay 33

Austin Lay won the boys 3,200-meter run with a time of 9 minutes, 56 seconds, and Andrew Stafford won the 1,600 in 4:38 for the Pirates. Bryant Lankford won the long jump at 18 feet, 6 inches.

In the girls 3,200, Shannon McClish won in 12:36 for Morro Bay. Sierra Emrick won the pole vault at 10-0, and Natalie Margaret won the high jump at 4-10.

BOYS BASKETBALL

CIF Division VI All-Star Game

Shandon guard Cicero Goddard was picked to play in two Division 6 All-Star games April 12 at Damien High in La Verne.

The 5-foot-9 senior led San Luis Obispo County in scoring, averaging 33.8 points per game for the Outlaws (9-9).

BOYS TENNIS

Dos Pueblos 17, Arroyo Grande 1

Derek Lakowske won one of his three singles sets for the Eagles (6-5).
