Officials have identified the driver who died Friday night in a single-vehicle crash near Cayucos Creek Road as Sadee Rae Jurgensen, 21, of Cayucos.

According to the San Luis Obispo County coroner’s unit, Jurgensen lost control of the 1999 Isuzu Amigo she was driving east on Picachio Road near Cayucos Creek Road about 11:30 p.m.

The vehicle left the road and overturned as it traveled down an embankment and struck several large rocks, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both Jurgensen and her passenger had to be freed from the vehicle by emergency crews.

Jurgensen was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, who has been identified only as a 25-year-old Paso Robles resident, suffered moderate injuries to his head and right thigh and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.

An autopsy for Jurgensen is planned this week, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
