Sheriff’s detectives are again asking for the public’s help in locating a local transient man missing since October, and a reward is now available for anyone with information.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rafael Chavez Gonzalez, 66, was last seen on Oct. 22 in the area of Highway 1 and Callender Road on the Nipomo Mesa. Officials said Gonzalez is a known transient.

He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and approximately 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is missing his left arm from a previous accident.

Authorities previously announced they were searching for Gonzalez in November, but searches of areas he is known to frequent have been unsuccessful. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Tony Cipolla said he has family in the area who has asked for authorities’ help in locating him.

On Friday, officials announced that Crime Stoppers is now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to his location. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 781-4550 or Crime Stoppers at 549-7867.
