International politics

San Luis ObispoMarch 14, 2014

The headline for David Brook’s column (March 13) declares: “We’ve lost faith in global politics.” I would remind him of a quote from that modern sage, George R.R. Martin: “It is no matter to (the common people) if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace. They never are.”

You may have lost your faith in international politics, Mr. Brooks, but international politics will never lose its faith in you. Though seeing as you write from New York City, I’d wager that global politics still receives some of your affections.
