Local filmmakers of all ages were honored Sunday by the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.

Wendy Eidson, the festival’s artistic and marketing director, said the winners of the Central Coast Filmmaker Showcase and Filmmakers of Tomorrow Showcase were a mix of San Luis Obispo County residents and out-of-towners.

“We’re excited to be inspiring young filmmakers to make movies that our audiences want to see,” she said.

The Central Coast Filmmakers Showcase, which is open to films written, directed and/or produced by residents of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Monterey counties, was divided into two categories: 30 minutes and longer (features) and under 30 minutes (shorts).

San Luis Obispo filmmaker Chris Daly took the prize for best narrative feature for “Incognita,” while Jennifer Alton and Molly Kiely of San Luis Obispo won best documentary feature for “Passion & Purpose.”

Other winners included “Learning to Float” for best documentary short and “Put a Lid On It” for best animated short. “After Dusk” and “Lucky 13th” tied for best narrative short.

In the Filmmakers of Tomorrow Showcase, open to moviemakers in elementary through high school, the prize for best SLO County film went to Cambria residents Carlos and Kyle Plummer for “Touched by Fate.” Kyle Plummer also won best documentary film for “Korea Remembered.”

Cambria students Andres Martinez, Eli Kepins, Diego Leonardo, Ivone DeJesus, and Giovanni Espinoza won best group film for “PacErgy.”

Prizes also went to “The Blue Gecko” for best animated film, “Color” for best international film and “Flaws” for best film by an individual.
