Broken power pole causes power outage around Cal Poly

A power outage around the Cal Poly campus affected more than 2,450 customers Saturday afternoon, a PG&E spokesman said.

The outage occurred at 2:30 p.m. and power was restored to all but 41 customers within a couple of hours, spokesman J.D. Guidi said. Full restoration is not expected until early Sunday, he said.

The outage was caused by a broken power pole that downed power lines at Highland Drive and Mt. Bishop Road at the edge of campus, he said. Power went out in Mustang Village and the Foothill Boulevard shopping area. The cause of the broken pole was not known, Guidi said.
