Vineyard Dog Park marks 5th anniversary

Parks4Pups will hold a Spring Fling celebration in honor of the fifth anniversary of Vineyard Dog Park in Templeton.

The event is scheduled for Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Activities will feature an amateur dog fetch competition. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and competition starts at 10:30 a.m.

Entry fee is $3 per dog. There will be several divisions based on weight or age, with a number of awards in each division.

Other activities include free family photos and refreshments.

The North County Humane Society will hold a low-cost microchip clinic for $15 per dog or cat. Proceeds benefit Vineyard Dog Park of Templeton.

The Vineyard Dog Park is at 1010 Semillon Lane in Templeton.

Market to benefit dog park association

The Fleabag Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elm Street Park Pavilion in Arroyo Grande will benefit Five Cities Dog Park Association.

Saddle up to learn, visit with horses

The spring sessions of Adventures with Horses are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays — March 8, April 12 and May 10.

Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to meet, greet, groom and walk calm equines. Children and their parents will learn about basic equine manners, body language, safety skills and round-pen activities.

Wear closed-toed shoes or boots. Events are at Heaven Can Wait Equine Sanctuary at 6275 Cerros Pioneros in San Miguel.

Spring camp will be full of animal action

Woods Humane Society will hold an Animal Action Camp for students 12 to 14 years old from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, March 24 to 28.

The cost is $250 and includes daily healthy snacks, field trips, camp shirt and all supplies for the week. Spots are on first-come, first-served basis.
