The Cuesta College baseball team lost 5-2 at home Tuesday, after Allan Hancock jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first three innings.

Evan Peterson was on the mound for seven innings for the Cougars (4-10, 0-1 Western State Conference), and gave up 12 hits and five earned runs while striking out four. 

Cuesta scored its first run in the first inning, when Steven Pico was walked with the bases loaded and Jordaan Salas scored. 

Josh Ramirez scored the Cougars’ second run on a ild pitch in the bottom of the eighth.

Cuesta sweeps softball twinbill

The Cuesta College softball team sweep a road doubleheader at Santa Barbara, beating the Vaqueros 6-2 and 9-1.

Nichole Johnson pitched a complete game for Cuesta (14-8, 4-1 WSC) in the opener, and Jeananne Ruck was in the circle for the entire nightcap victory.

Ruck also hit a home run in the second game.
