Letter to the Editor

Example, please

Paso RoblesFebruary 26, 2014

I guess one can assume that writer Lanie Stier reads The Tribune, owing to her recent letter to the editor about “Media bias.” In this letter, Stier points out that when a political figure is involved in a scandal, and is a Republican to boot, the media is quick to name the individual’s political party. Yet, these same media do not name the scoundrel’s political party when they are a member of the Democratic Party. Stier bases this bias claim on recent stories about the former mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, a Democrat, as proof.

My question is, does Stier even read The Tribune? Two recent stories about Nagin that appeared in The Tribune (Feb. 12 and 13) both mentioned his political party. The two local ABC and NBC affiliates also discussed Nagin. Both likewise revealed the political party of this scoundrel. The local NPR station (KCBX) had a story on Nagin recently and pointed out his political party.

This writer wonders what media the writer is referencing? Inquiring minds want to know.
