Compton trailer fun

Arroyo GrandeFebruary 19, 2014

Oh, so you really did know that there is a third candidate running in the 4th District Board of Supervisors race, but you chose not to seek out contacting and interviewing Lynn Compton. Instead, you found it much more interesting to write not one, but two editorial comments Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 about a cargo trailer being used as a moving billboard to let people know that there is another candidate running for election.

Does the First Amendment only apply to you and not to others? Apparently. Your comments about adding more regulations to a very cumbersome system full of rules makes a person wonder whether they would ever consider running for public office because of all of the rules.

Many people have commented and sent photos of the trailer when they spot it. Do you on the editorial board have a sense of humor or creativity? The trailer has become a “Where’s Waldo” type of reference. It’s fun. It appears that fun is not in your realm. Too bad. Maybe if you had a sense of whimsy, you might sell a few more papers. It is boring when all the energy is directed to one side.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
